Board of Directors


David J. Chao, MD

David Chao is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist practicing in San Diego, California.  He has extensive experience treating athletes at all levels.  Dr. Chao serves as the head team physician for the San Diego Chargers and is the chief medical officer for the ESPN Summer and Winter X Games.  He is active in research and was recently inducted into the prestigious ACL study group.  In addition, he consults, develops and holds patents for several orthopedic companies.

Dr. Chao has founded the San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation which helps provide uninsured children needed medical care and surgery.  He also serves on the board of directors of the Junior Seau Foundation (www.juniorseau.org ) and the San Diego International Sports Council (www.sdisc.com ).

Brent Kay , MD

Dr. Brent W. Kay, MD is Board Certified in Sports Medicine and Internal Medicine. Dr. Kay graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University and completed his residency training at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Dr. Kay is now the Executive Director of the OUCH Sports Medical Center.  As a former All-American and Professional Triathlete he competed in over 100 triathlons, including the Hawaii Ironman World Championship Triathlon.  

Dr. Kay developed Osteonecrosis in his right shoulder in 1980 following injuries he sustained in a car accident.  After 20 years of triathlons and numerous shoulder surgeries, Dr. Kay was unable to continue competing in triathlons and turned to competitive cycling in 2002.  He met Floyd Landis shortly before Floyd fractured his hip in 2003.  Dr. Kay is Floyd’s personal physician and has guided Floyd through his multiple surgeries, rehabilitation and return to competition over the last 4 years.

Arthur B. Muir

Arthur B. Muir is a partner in the Chicago office of McGuireWoods, LLP, a general practice law firm with 750 lawyers in 15 cities in the United States and Europe.  Art’s practice focuses on commercial transactions, including real estate loans and financings, lines of credit, acquisition and ESOP loans, asset based, debtor-in-possession and cash flow loans, syndications and participations. He is also experienced in workouts and restructurings, lease receivable financings and securitizations.

Art is a member of the American Bar Association Syndications and Participations Subcommittee, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association UCC and Commercial Finance Subcommittees. He is a member of the Founder’s Leadership Council of the Commercial Finance Association Education Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the United Methodist Foundation of Northern Illinois, and is a former member of the Board of Directors of Pro Bono Advocates. In addition, Art is a longstanding member of the University of Pennsylvania Secondary Schools Admissions Committee.

Art authored an article entitled “Electronic Bills of Lading: a Quiet Revolution” that appeared in the November 2004 issue of LJN’s Equipment Leasing Newsletter, Volume 24, Number 10 and co-authored an article entitled “Green Wave or Greenwash?” that appeared in the November/December 200 issue of The Secured Lender. He is also an active lecturer who most recently delivered a presentation entitled “Conflict of Interest Issues and Fiduciary Duties of Syndicated and Participating Lenders” during a panel discussion on asset based lending sponsored by Bank of America, N.A.

In 1968, Art graduated with an A.B. from the University of Pennsylvania. After serving three years in the United States Army, he enrolled in the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and received an M.B.A. in Finance in 1972. He earned his J.D. from the Northwestern University School of Law in 1976.

Daniel T. Rudrud

Mr. Rudrud is an Executive Director at JPMorgan. He has spent 20 years in the financial services industry advising an internationally diverse institutional client base.  During his 20 year career he has been employed by Citicorp, BankAmerica and since 1997, JPMorgan. He is an avid cyclist and private pilot. Mr. Rudrud received his M.B.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and holds a B.S. in Economics from Arizona State University. He resides in the Chicago area with his wife Sarah and two children.
